Here are a few historical words from David Bard, who purchased the car from Red in 1979:

"When I purchased the car from Red, it was in full race trim. 1971 was the last year that Red said he raced it. The car was white with a black top, painted down to the base of the windows. It had no flares, and the front fenders had been replaced once but cut out for clearance on about the front 2/3rds of the opening. The car had been run with widened 6"X10" wheels, and the front wheel studs had been replaced with oversized ones. Tires were first generation Goodyear Blue Streak's, and the hydro suspention was flat on the bump stops. Red had added a Koni shock kit on the front, and adjustable camber plates on the back. The engine was a stock 1275cc, dual 1 1/2 SU's, reworked head, and many cracks in the crank! It also had a cam & pawl type limited slip diff, non syncro first stock tranny, with a windage tray. The interior was stock S, including the driver's seat with Simpson belts. There was a Varley Racing battery, bolted behind the passenger seat location. The rear pockets & seat shelf were intact. The car had a roll hoop and front bars which mounted to the floor with bolts. For the most part the car was a stock S with few mods".
