Toybox Racing Report

We arrived at the track Thursday early afternoon, and set up our paddock with Mack & Leigh in the lower paddock area, amongst most of the Mini group. Plenty of time to set up, get the cars through Tech, and have a relaxing evening. Also discovering that we would be part of a 67 car grid!!

Friday morning we were out on the track for our first of 3 practice sessions of the day, which were mostly used manuvering around traffic, and relearning the track from last year.

All three days Bob Seneshen provided the racers with a BBQ lunch, co-organized by Leigh and Rachel. Thank you Bob! On Saturday we did the prize draws during lunch, with Dyrk winning the Seven Ent. prize (a set of PF Pads!) and Andy taking home the Classic Motor Works prize (specialty Hans Clock). All the Mini racers did win something, prizes included T-shirts, videos, etc. Thank you Sponsors!

Saturday morning we had our Qualifying session (Group B), and our first race in the afternoon, 4-5 Minis were pretty much glued together for the entire race! The threat of rain lingered mid day, but never materialized.

Saturday night a thunderstorm moved through, and washed everything clean in heavy rain for about ½ hour, the paddock was like a river!

Sunday Morning we were out for race 2, where the Minis finished strongly again, lots of close racing, what a blast! Also, the grid started to thin as the weekend went on.

For the Feature race Sunday afternoon, we were down to about 40 cars in the grid, so traffic was less of a factor. Still lots of close Mini racing, with a strong finish, Andy almost blew it just before the checker, going off on the outside of 10, overdriving worn tires.... Fortunately, avoiding the concrete wall.... At the trophy ceremony, the presenter tagged Andy with the title of "Andy on-the-grass Nelson"!

Our cars worked very well, with only minor adjustments being required all weekend.
